This new section of our motoring forum is where the UK Traffic News users and our followers on Twitter and Facebook can post their ideas for how car manufacturers could squeeze more miles per gallon (MPG) out of the cars they manufacturer.

We will be giving what we think are the best ideas a mention on Twitter and Facebook.

Here is our one to get things started!

Mini Wind Turbines to Charge A Battery Power Unit

For say dual power cars, part petrol or diesel and part electric.

Mini Wind Turbines that pop up or fold up on the tailgate or above the front windscreen.

Where ever the wind flow is most effective depending on the car share.

They could pop up when breaking for example as at that point the drag would assist breaking and not affect the MPG so much and only pop up when cruising if the battery power drops below a certainly level.

Would be great for people that travel longer distances such as commuters on motorways and when on a long trip say a holiday.

Mini wind turbines built into a car to charge the battery power unit for dual power cars?

BRILLIANT IDEA why hasn't anyone done it already.

Presumably the fans could create unwanted noise? Think that could be prevented.

Maybe fit the turbine fan or fans into the grill at the front!

Protected away from the drivers and passengers so less of noise risk and presunably the front grill gets the wind straight on?

John, love this idea. Simple but cool (no pun intended!)
